Olive Garden to offer free Veterans Day meals 2011

Olive Garden will offer active-duty military and veterans free entrees on Veterans Day this Friday.

Vets, Military eat free at Olive Garden 11/11/11It’s a new offer from the Italian chain, owned by Orlando-based Darden Restaurants, who recently apologized after a local Kiwanis club wasn’t allowed to display the American flag in their Alabama Olive Garden.

An Olive Garden spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.

Provide proper proof of service at any Olive Garden restaurant in the US and Canada on Veterans Day (Friday, November 11th 2011) and enjoy a free entree complete with baked garlic breadsticks and a choice of soup or salad.


Veterans and active military members can choose from Seafood Alfredo; Chicken Parmigiana; Braised Beef and Tortellini; Cheese Ravioli, Spaghetti & Meatballs; or the unlimited Soup/Salad/Breadsticks combination.

The free Veterans Day offer at Olive Garden is valid for dine-in only and does not include dessert, beverages or tip. Valid proof of service required.

  1. I do not usually respond to certain things, but this time I feel I must. ALot of chains are offering these meals on Vtereans Day. Due to the contraversy with Olive Garden, If you feel the need to RAM things down peoples throats, then do it with some class. Wear flag pins. I am a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilary/Past District President and a long time member of the American Legion Auxilary. I respect businesses and if I do not agree with thier policies, then I do not go there. It is NOT un american to not allow groups of people to bring in large flags. Dinning out should be an enjoyable experiance not a protest atmosphere………….

    • You are right, Cheryl. Dining out SHOULD be a pleasurable experience, but it was not for the Kiwanis Club. My suggestion to bring an American Flag, did not further require that anyone demand to display it in the restaurant. THAT would not be classy. Your comment, however, not only lacks CLASS, but it makes me feel just like the Kiwanis Club woman felt…..Here is an excerpt from the story:

      “The comments come after 80-year-old Marti Warren of Anniston said she wasn’t allowed to bring an American flag into an Olive Garden for a planned Kiwanis Club banquet in the east Alabama town of Oxford.

      Warren learned the night of the banquet that she wouldn’t be allowed to display the flag or the Kiwanis banner in the restaurant, she said.

      “I was so angry,” she told WBRC-TV. “I felt like I had been slapped in the face.
