Support Our Troops Care Packages from Soldiers Angels

As Independence Day approaches, remember those currently fighting for freedom who won’t be home to celebrate.  Thank our U.S. soldiers today by sending a care package full of goodies.  If you think you’re simply too busy to put one together, or think it’s impossible to find the address of someone currently deployed, think again. Soldiers Angels makes it easy.

Anyone wishing to send moral support gifts to someone currently deployed, who doesn’t have a lot of time on their hands, can simply order a care package through Soldiers Angels.  They offer a wide variety of ready-to-ship bundles, or you can customize one of your own.

I found this “Deployment Pack” (for only $20) that includes powdered drink mix, snacks, teeth-whitening gum, baby wipes, lip balm, a 60 minute phone card, and a thank you coin all wrapped nicely in a Soldiers Angels towel.

Best of all, you can send a kit out to “any hero” or a “specific soldier” at checkout, and can choose whether to ship the package anonymously or with your own special message.  Support Our Troops!

Operation Show Our Love

As of  April 29th, 2011, Operation Show Our Love has shipped 3797 care packages to 1276 military units abroad.  That’s impressive stuff!  What makes this group unique is that they also include humanitarian items, such as stuffed animals, for troops to distribute to local populations in 18 countries across the globe.

Wanting to help, but restricted due to the post 9/11 rules that stopped packages addressed to “Any Soldier“, this group from Brookville, Ohio found a solution at AnySoldier.com

Here’s what happened next:

“We sent the 9 packages on Dec. 9th, 2004 and hoped they’d get there by Christmas.  After the first of the year we started getting letters back from the troops telling us how much they appreciated the packages and how thankful they were for support.  One letter was written on Christmas Eve and another was written on Christmas day.  That meant a lot to us and it also showed us the packages DID make it for Christmas.  So we sent another 6 packages in Jan.

We also had kids groups making cards which we put in the boxes we sent to the troops.  When the word got out about what we were doing, the Brookville AMVETS Post 1789 and the Brookville VFW Post 3288 wanted to get involved and help with donations.  We have hundreds of cards/letters/emails and pictures which we’ve put into an album.

We talk about our Operation to local service organizations like the Women’s group at church, Brookville and Northmont Optimist, Northmont Rotary, Kiwanis K-Kids, etc.  With the help of donations from the AMVETS and VFW and their auxiliaries, local groups and individuals and Sam’s Club we’ve been able to send almost 2,000 care packages to almost 800 contacts/units, in 18 different countries.  The total weight of items shipped so far is over 50,000 pounds!”
