Vacations for Veterans Provides Free Lodging for OIF/OEF Purple Heart Recipients

Nearly 45,000 Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans have been awarded the Purple Heart, and one non-profit group has found an amazing way to say “Thank You” to those honored veterans.

Since 2007, Vacations for Veterans has been providing 7 days of free lodging to wounded Purple Heart recipients.  Hundreds of vacation home and time share owners in the United States, have generously donated the use of their getaway spot in support of this program.

Vacations for Veterans became so popular in 2011, that they had to start booking for 2012.  Anyone who knows a wounded Purple Heart recipient that deserves a break, please share this program with them.

People interested in donating use of their homes,  timeshares, money or time can do so here:

The National Flag Day Foundation’s Americanism Center

If you’re a Yankee Doodle Dandy like me, then you’re going to love the National Flag Day Foundation.  Located in Waubeka, WI on former “school grounds”, the National Flag Day Foundation is keeping Flag Day Observance alive by getting America‘s youth involved.

In 1995 the National Flag Day Foundation built what they call the “Americanism Center” that contains a museum, a commemorative courtyard, and (my personal favorite) an “Avenue of Flags“.

Along side each fringed flag is a political , economic, and military history of our great country. The National Flag Day Foundation also utilizes the Avenue of Flags as a teaching tool for school groups that are invited to tour the facilities free of charge.

The balance of their building is occupied by Scouts, American Legion, 4-H groups, the Lions Club, and senior citizens. It is open continuously and there is no charge for using the facilities.

The whole museum is open to the public anytime by request at:

(262) 692-2385 *or* (262) 692-2811.

Got Your Tickets? The Veteran Tickets Foundation can get your TICKETS for FREE

The feedback is awesome for the Veteran Tickets Foundation.  Whether coming from the Marine who attended the Yankees vs Red Socks game, or the Army Soldier who had a great time at the Kenny Chesney/Zac Brown Band Concert, everyone is thankful for VetTix.   They have worked very hard to put free tickets in the hands of America‘s Troops and Veterans.

The honors keep piling up for this veterans support agency, too!  In 2011 alone, VetTix has received letters of commendation from the Arizona Department of Veterans Services, the US Coast Guard, the New York Army National Guard, and recently received the 2011 “Be More” award sponsored by UPS.

To assure that all tickets given away land in the hands of true veterans and military personnel, the Veteran Tickets Foundation will verify your military service prior to disbursement.  If you would like to sign up for free tickets to various events, please visit their website here
