Rolling Thunder Memorial Day Weekend POW/MIA Observance

The Rolling Thunder Memorial weekend “Ride” began in 1987 with 2500 patriotic motorcycle enthusiasts.  It was organized by a group of Vietnam Veterans who wanted to bring attention to the POW/MIA’s that were left behind after the Vietnam War ended.   Today, more than 250,000 motorcyclists participate in this annual ride through the streets of Washington D.C.  Assuring that the U.S. Government “Never Forgets” that all soldiers left behind deserve to make it home.

Patriot Guard Riders: “Freedom Isn’t Free, but Membership Is”

Don’t own a Harley? Who cares!  This group isn’t anything like the Sons of Anarchy shows on television.  The Patriot Guard Riders are an organization of motorcycle enthusiasts that are bonded together by their respect for America’s Military Heroes.  Their primary activity is, as invited guests of the family, to attend the funeral services of our fallen warriors and their primary objective is to:

“1) Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

2) Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means

SHOW YOUR RESPECT TODAY (MEMBERSHIP IS FREE)

Blankets for Boots Campaign and “Never Forget” Ride

Most 17-year-old girls aren’t thinking about ways to help honor America‘s Veterans.  But Jacqueline Mullholland of Utah, doesn’t fit that mold.  Jacque considers blankets to be “like a symbol of a hug”, and thanks to her hard work, thousands of Military Veterans in VA hospitals and nursing homes have received “hugs” in the form of fleece blankets.  She even spent $200 of her own money to have baby T-shirts and onesies screened with the phrase “My Mommy‘s a Hero” in support of female soldiers.
